Welcome to Palazzo Sorbello

In the historic center of the city of Perugia, a few steps from the Cathedral and the Etruscan Well, an ancient palace dating back to the XVIIth century houses a precious collection of paintings, porcelain, printed works, manuscripts and embroidered fabrics.

The noble residence of the Bourbon Marquises of Sorbello welcomes the visitor in rooms with frescoed vaults among elegant furnishings and eighteenth-century chandeliers, with a suggestive view of Perugia and the valley of Assisi.

THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY ROOMS
AND THE ART COLLECTIONS

In a phase immediately following the purchase of the building (1781) by the Marquis Uguccione III Bourbon di Sorbello, the rooms on the first floor, or “Noble floor”, were subjected to an important renovation, recognizable above all in the frescoes that decorate the vaults of each room.

In these rooms, once the apartments of family members, pieces of great value from the Bourbon di Sorbello art collections are exhibited: from the picture gallery to the engravings, from the Italian and Chinese porcelains to the embroidery works made by the workers of the “Scuola Ranieri di Sorbello embroidery”.
